Chapter 22
Tatum
âWhat do you wanna get?â Cohen asks from my side. Itâs Friday, the day Iâm supposed to find out little Beanâs gender, but I'm not sure I want to. As excited as we both are, I havenât exactly told Cohen yet.
âIâm not sure.â I say while passing by a big glass display window. We skipped the rest of the school day to do a little retail therapy. Basically Cohen wanted to ditch and I tagged along. Since Christmas is right around the corner we decided to head to the Mall. I want to find something for Grams, and Killian. âIâll know when I see it though.â
âMhm.â Cohen agrees sarcastically. âYouâve been in almost every store so far and havenât found anything.â He rolls his eyes.
âCan we take a break and get something to eat?â I ask him while pouting my lips.
âSure, Bean needs to eat too you know.â He agrees while I elbow his side.
âWhat about me?â I whine.
âWhat about you?â He teases. âCome on, I know they have fried pickles somewhere.â He takes my hand and drags me to the food court. I swear I begin to salivate just thinking about them.
âCan we get hot sauce too?â I bat my eyelashes. âPretty please.â I clasp my hands in front of me and smile like a brat about to get her way.
âThatâs the grossest thing Iâve ever heard of, Tate. Fried pickles and hot sauce?â He shivers in disgust. âYou need to get those cravings in check. Couldnât you crave something normal like⦠chocolate?â He asks me seriously. I canât help but laugh at the way his face turns pale at the mere mention of the unique cravings Iâve been having.
âI had chocolate ice-cream and pickles last night, does that count?â I counter shrugging my shoulders.
âOkay, Tatum. Letâs just not talk about what youâve been eating. Next youâre gonna tell me youâve been eating spam from the can.â He makes a gagging noise in the back of his throat.
âThat actually sounds really good, with like Doritos or something?â
âSomethingâs seriously wrong with you.â He takes our order and I follow him over to an empty table.
âItâs Beanâs fault.â I put all the blame on her.
âIâm pretty sure you had something wrong with you before Bean.â He jokes.
âObviously.â I roll my eyes and pop a flaming hot pickle in my mouth. The conversation flows for the rest of our pit stop. Thereâs never been an awkward or dull moment between us. Itâs easy with him, and sometimes I wish it could just stay like this forever. I eat all the fried pickles my stomach can handle and then weâre back at it. Christmas shopping and killing time before my doctors appointment.
âCome in here with me!â I tug his hand into a small children's store. Thereâs everything youâd ever need for a child of any age. Things I havenât even thought about getting. I have money from my parents in a savings account I havenât even dreamed about touching, but seeing all of the thingâs Iâm gonna need for Bean I might have to.
